Hello.
Welcome to Same Circles!
samecircles.com was listed for sale for $8,900, so here we are at samecircles.app—a perfectly respectable place to be.
Two years ago, I had an idea for a round word puzzle structure where words could curve around and cross each other. The concept appealed to me because it creates a canvas to draw something that would be extremely hard to do even on paper.
Making this happen required solving three major, intriguing challenges across geometry, math, and code. Over those two years, I gave up twice. But now, my third attempt is running smoothly.
One unique thing about this structure is that, as a game, it allows for a variety of solutions. It leaves things open enough that people can share words whose relationships are personally interesting. This got me thinking about making puzzles that offer something entirely new—and that’s where the Word Puzzle Manifesto begins.
Because I want to build something that carries real meaning, I can’t do it in a vacuum. That’s why I’ve invited you here to help.
How You Can Help Build This
Use the Sandbox: The sandbox on this site is an open testing ground that thrives on community input. I’m hoping you’ll help craft the rules, constraints, and challenges that will turn this into a meaningful game. We can share the challenges we create and try each other’s work. I will eventually formalize a few real games to release into the puzzlesphere.
Build the Manifesto: I’m just as excited about the manifesto as I am about the game itself. I need your perspective here, too!
Below is where Part I stands today. I’d love to improve it based on your input in the comments—long comments are very welcome! The remaining sections are still blank canvases, but don’t let that stop you from contributing in the comment sections waiting under each manifesto subtitle. Let’s have some fun making, thinking, and playing together.
