About the Logo

The two animals are contributing each in their own way. Are they in love, or just thinking hard together?

When I had the idea for the logo, I couldn’t figure out how to get the owl and the elephant close enough together. I took a risk and asked my 11-year-old daughter to give it a crack. Here’s what she drew:

My daughter's original pencil sketch of an owl and an elephant facing each other inside a circle
My daughter’s first pass.

She nailed it. I spent two days working on it and got to this:

A refined version of the owl and elephant, worked on in Photoshop and cropped into a circle
Two days of Photoshop later.

And then this:

A stippled black and white version of the Same Circles logo
Lots of Photoshop filters.

Then I had a lot of push and pull with ChatGPT, cleaning it up to this:

The final Same Circles logo
The one we kept.

It’s a logo built on layers: a daughter’s creative spark, a bit of modern technology, and a lot of tinkering. It feels appropriate that a project about shared puzzle-making started with a shared drawing. BTW my son did the comic on top of the house rules page.
